Houthi Movement Claims Attack on Vessel Off Saudi Coast

The Houthi movement in Yemen has claimed responsibility for an attack on a vessel off the coast of Saudi Arabia near the Red Sea port city of Yanbu. The group's military spokesperson, Yahya Saree, made the statement during a televised speech on Monday.

The UK Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO) agency reported earlier in the day that a tanker had been struck by an unknown projectile about 63 nautical miles west of Yanbu. Fortunately, all crew members were safe and accounted for with no reported environmental impact.

Yanbu is Saudi Arabia's main Red Sea oil export port and has become an important route for Saudi crude shipments bypassing the Strait of Hormuz, which has been blocked amid the escalating confrontation with Iran.
