Houthi Rebels Claim Responsibility for Attacks on Saudi Energy Facilities

The Houthi rebels in Yemen have claimed responsibility for attacks on energy facilities and a Saudi airbase, wounding at least 73 people. The assaults occurred in four cities in southern Saudi Arabia, according to Colonel Turki al-Malki, spokesperson for the Saudi-led coalition in Yemen.

The attacks come after Iran warned that energy infrastructure across the Gulf could be vulnerable following tit-for-tat exchanges on ships in and around the Gulf last weekend.

The disruption to Red Sea shipping has added concerns over global oil and gas supplies, while Iran continues to restrict shipping through the strategically important Strait of Hormuz.
