The Houthi rebels in Yemen have claimed that their attacks on Saudi Arabia's capital Riyadh and other locations were successful.

According to reports from the AFP news agency, flames were seen near Riyadh's international airport on Saturday, with a burnt-out fuel tank bearing the logo of state-run oil company Saudi Aramco.

The Reuters news agency also reported that a large plume of smoke was visible near the airport after booms were heard, and that Saudi Arabia had sent alerts overnight warning of potential danger around the capital.

The Houthi rebels stated that they carried out two military operations using ballistic and cruise missiles and drones, targeting sensitive sites in Riyadh and Aramco facilities in Yanbu on the Red Sea coast.
