Houthi Rebels Launch Attack on Saudi Arabian Oil Facilities
The Houthi rebels in Yemen fired missiles and drones at Saudi Arabia's Red Sea cities of Yanbu and Jizan, targeting facilities owned by Aramco, the world's largest oil company.
The attack was in response to Saudi airstrikes on the strategic city of Hodeida, which is a vital shipping route in the Middle East. The Houthis have threatened to close the Bab el-Mandeb Strait to Saudi-linked shipping unless their demands are met.
The escalation in tensions has increased concerns about global shipping and trade through the Red Sea. Around 12% of the world's trade, including a quarter of its container traffic, passes through this narrow strait.
