Houthi Rebels Launch Ballistic Missile Attack on Saudi Capital

Saudi Arabia has confirmed that Yemen's Houthi rebels launched a ballistic missile attack on its capital, Riyadh, in an escalation of fighting between the two sides. The Saudi-led coalition said the attempt was intercepted and there were no reports of casualties or damage.

The Houthis had earlier claimed to have targeted 'sensitive sites' in Riyadh and facilities of oil giant Aramco in Yanbu, but provided no evidence. The Associated Press couldn't independently verify their claims.

Saudi Arabia is running low on missile interceptors and has asked France, Britain, Pakistan, and Egypt for air defense support. This comes as fighting surges inside Yemen between the Houthis and the Saudi-backed government.
