Saudi Arabia has faced a second strike in two days at its international airport in Riyadh, with authorities reporting one fatality and 11 injuries. The Houthi rebels from Yemen have claimed responsibility for the attack, which comes just one day after a previous strike on the same airport that killed 12 people and injured over 300.
Security camera footage from the first attack shows smoke rising from an explosion, the ceiling collapsing, and passengers fleeing in panic. The Houthis stated that the attacks were in retaliation for Saudi Arabia's air strikes in Yemen. They also claimed responsibility for hitting another international airport and facilities of a state-run oil company, warning that flights to Saudi Arabia are unsafe except for those to the airports of Mecca and Medina.
Iran's state-run media reported that Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi spoke with Saudi Arabia's Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud, offering Iran's support to facilitate dialogue between Saudi Arabia and Yemen. The series of attacks has raised concerns about escalating tensions in the region.
