Houthi Strikes on Saudi Aramco Refinery and Terminal Send Oil Prices Soaring
The Houthi movement in Yemen launched simultaneous strikes on Saudi Aramco's Jizan refinery and the Yanbu export terminal, causing a fire at the refinery and intercepting two missiles at Yanbu.
NASA's satellite fire-detection system confirmed thermal anomalies at the Jizan site, with multiple explosions reported in the industrial area. Social media video showed large fires burning in the city.
The Yanbu terminal, which accounts for 92% of Saudi Arabia's seaborne crude exports, was targeted with ballistic and cruise missiles and drones. Greek security sources confirmed that two incoming ballistic missiles were intercepted by a defense system operated by Greek military personnel.
Saudi Civil Defense issued emergency warnings for residents of both Jizan and Yanbu, but lifted the warnings for Yanbu after the intercepts. The company did not respond to media requests for comment on damage at the Jizan site.
