Houthis Target Saudi Oil Facilities in Retaliatory Strike
The Houthi rebels in Yemen claimed responsibility for launching missile and drone attacks on Saudi oil installations, including facilities owned by Aramco. The attack was said to be in retaliation for Saudi-led coalition airstrikes on the port city of Hodeidah.
Houthi military spokesman Yahya Sarea stated that the first operation targeted sensitive Aramco facilities in Jazan with 'dozens of ballistic missiles and drones.' A second operation attacked oil company facilities in Yanbu. Both operations, according to Sarea, achieved their objectives with 'precise and direct' impacts.
The Saudi-led coalition has been involved in the Yemen war since 2015, supporting the internationally recognized government. The coalition claimed a 'proportionate military response' against legitimate Houthi military targets linked to threats against commercial shipping.
