Houthi Strikes on Saudi Oil Installations Fuel Global Energy Tensions
The Houthi militia in Yemen fired missiles at Saudi oil installations on the Red Sea coast on Saturday, July 25. The strike targeted sites belonging to Aramco in Jizan and Yanbu.
In Jizan, two Asia-based trading sources confirmed potential damage to fuel and oil storage sites. In contrast, in Yanbu, a U.S.-made Patriot battery operated by the Greek military intercepted two ballistic missiles aimed at oil installations.
The attack on Saudi Arabia's Red Sea ports comes as tensions between Iran and the US continue to escalate. The US has held back from launching air strikes on Iran itself for the first night in two weeks, despite earlier threats of 'major military punishment' for Tehran and its allies.
