Houthis Accuse Saudi Arabia of Dozens of Strikes on Sanaa Amid Escalating Conflict
The conflict in Yemen has escalated with the Houthis accusing Saudi Arabia of launching dozens of strikes on Sanaa on Saturday. According to the Houthi-affiliated channel Al-Masirah TV, 'Saudi enemy aircraft' hit Sanaa with 26 strikes.
AFP journalist reported seeing flames and smoke coming from an oil facility belonging to Aramco south of Riyadh, but both the Houthis and Saudi authorities had yet to comment. The Houthis have claimed several attacks on facilities belonging to Aramco in recent months.
The renewed fighting has worsened the humanitarian conditions in Yemen, with three-quarters of the population unable to meet its basic food needs, according to the World Food Programme. The battle for Taiz is taking place on several fronts, including highlands overlooking coastal areas recently seized by the Houthis.
