Houthis Accuse Saudi Arabia of Yemen Airstrikes as Conflict Escalates

Yemen's Houthi rebels accused Saudi Arabia of conducting airstrikes and missile strikes across the country, including an attack on a prison that killed seven people. The Houthis' media outlet reported that Saudi forces targeted their positions in various provinces, causing widespread destruction.

The attack on the prison in Al-Hazm, in the north of Yemen, left seven dead, including one child visiting the facility. Seven others were injured in the strike, according to the Houthi-held health ministry in Sanaa.

The Houthis have been pressing an offensive to seize control of territory near the Bab al-Mandab Strait, a strategic shipping route that has become vital for Saudi oil exports amid Iran's blockade of the Strait of Hormuz.

UN special envoy Hans Grundberg warned that the Houthi assault had triggered intense clashes, threatening to expand the conflict and making it harder to reach a political settlement. Military sources within the government forces confirmed the air raids and missile attacks but Saudi Arabia did not announce any such strikes.
