Hanoi Gold Market Sees Calm Amid High Prices
The gold market in Hanoi was relatively calm on September 8, a departure from its usual volatility. According to reporters' records, the number of customers was not too large, with most coming to trade quickly and receive their gold immediately after completing procedures.
Mr. Tran Van Hung, a resident of Hai Ba Trung ward, bought 1 tael of gold rings at a local shop on Tran Nhan Tong street. He said he had just received his September salary and decided to save a part of it by buying gold. 'I don't buy much because I still have to spend money during the month,' he explained.
Hung's approach to buying gold is not driven by daily price movements but rather maintaining a habit of accumulation. He said, 'If the price is high, I will consider it, but if I wait for the price to decrease every month before buying, I may not be able to buy it.'
Moving in the opposite direction, Ms. Ngo Thi Minh initially planned to buy 5 taels of gold but decided to reduce her purchase to 3 taels due to the high current price. 'If the price increases, I still have gold, and if the price decreases, I still have money to buy more,' she said.
Meanwhile, Ms. Vu Thi Huong's family has accumulated 2 taels of gold since 2024 but decided to sell 1 tael due to the high current price. 'I also thought for quite a long time before deciding to sell. The price is high, so I sell 1 tael to have more money to handle personal matters,' she explained.
As of 11:30 am on September 8, Phu Quy listed SJC gold bar prices at the threshold of 144.1 - 147.1 million VND/tael (buying - selling), an increase of 100,000 VND/tael in both buying and selling directions compared to yesterday morning.
