Houthis and Iraqis Join Forces to Target U.S. Allies in Gulf

In recent months, Iran's proxy network of Houthis and Iraqi militias has targeted U.S. allies in the Gulf region.

The attacks began after Saudi Arabia and the United States bombed Iranian-backed militias in Iraq in July following drone strikes on Saudi oil facilities claimed by Yemen's Houthi rebels.

According to regional officials, the Houthis helped plan and execute a two-day swarm attack on Saudi oil facilities in September, showing increased coordination between the groups.

The escalation is part of Iran's strategy to drive up costs for the U.S. and its allies following the February launch of a war against Iran.
