Houthis Attack Saudi Oil Facility as Iran Demands Negotiations Restart

Yemen's Houthi rebels have claimed responsibility for an attack on an Aramco oil facility in southwestern Saudi Arabia, sparking concerns of renewed conflict in the region.

The attack occurred on Sunday and targeted a refinery in the city of Jazan. According to the Houthis, it was in response to Saudi drones breaching Yemen's airspace over the provinces of Hajjah and Saada.

The Saudi Energy Ministry reported a fire at the facility without casualties, stating that it had been extinguished but not specifying its cause.

Meanwhile, Iran has made new demands for the restart of negotiations with the US, including an end to sanctions and the release of frozen assets. Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi stated that 'negotiations cannot resume until the violations of the memorandum of understanding have ended and the United States has remedied the provisions of the memorandum that it violated.'

The Pentagon is also pushing for a boost in weapons production, citing a need to provide 'the weapons our warfighters need at the pace the threat demands.' The US military's stockpiles of advanced missile interceptors have been depleted due to the ongoing conflict with Iran.
