The Houthi rebels claimed responsibility for attacking two Saudi oil tankers in the Red Sea on July 23, naming them Ansilia and Leila. The Houthis stated that the ships had violated their declared naval blockade.

According to the Houthis, they used drones and missiles to target the tankers. However, it is unclear if any casualties were reported from the incident.

The attack came as the United States conducted its twelfth consecutive night of airstrikes on Iran. The US military stated that the strikes aimed 'to further degrade Iran's ability to threaten civilian and commercial ships passing through the region.'

Pakistani officials have demanded that Iran stop attacking Gulf states before resuming any negotiations, with Chinese interests also affected by the closure of the Strait of Hormuz.
