Houthis Attempt Missile Strike on Saudi Capital

Saudi Arabia has confirmed that Yemen's Houthi rebels attempted to attack its capital, Riyadh, with a ballistic missile. The attempt was thwarted by the Saudi-led coalition fighting the Houthis.

The missile was intercepted, and some residents in Riyadh reported hearing an explosion and seeing a plume of smoke near the airport. No casualties or damage were reported.

The Houthi rebels also claimed to have targeted 'sensitive sites' in Riyadh and facilities of Saudi oil giant Aramco in Yanbu, causing 'massive fires'. However, these claims are unsubstantiated.

The conflict has escalated significantly in recent days, with the Houthis attempting to attack Mecca, Islam's holiest city, with a drone. They also claimed to have targeted civilian infrastructure in the Red Sea port city of Yanbu and other locations.
