Houthis Attempt to Strike Saudi Capital
Saudi Arabia's capital was targeted by Yemen's Houthi rebels in a ballistic missile attack, marking the first attempt to hit Riyadh since the escalation of fighting with the Tehran-backed group.
The Saudi-led coalition fighting the Houthis confirmed that the missile was intercepted, but some residents heard an explosion and saw a plume of smoke near the airport. There were no reports of casualties or damage.
The Houthis claimed to have targeted 'sensitive sites' in Riyadh and facilities of oil giant Aramco in Yanbu, causing 'massive fires,' but these claims could not be independently verified.
