Houthis Attempt to Strike Saudi Capital With Ballistic Missile

Saudi Arabia has confirmed that Yemen's Houthi rebels attempted to attack its capital city of Riyadh with a ballistic missile, marking the first time the city has been targeted since the escalation in fighting.

The Saudi-led coalition said the attempt was intercepted, and while some residents reported hearing an explosion and seeing smoke near the airport, there were no reports of casualties or damage.

The Houthis had earlier claimed to have targeted 'sensitive sites' in Riyadh and facilities of Saudi oil giant Aramco in the Red Sea port city of Yanbu, causing 'massive fires', but these claims could not be independently verified.
