Houthis Claim Ballistic Missile Strike on Saudi Oil Tanker in Gulf of Aden

The Houthi group has claimed responsibility for a ballistic missile strike on the Saudi oil tanker Daisy in the Gulf of Aden, marking the latest attack against shipping linked to Saudi Arabia.

The Houthis' military spokesperson stated that the ballistic missile 'directly struck the vessel', but did not provide further details regarding the extent of the damage or the fate of the tanker.

This incident comes amid escalating attacks on maritime shipping in the Red Sea and the Gulf of Aden, with the Houthi group announcing earlier on Wednesday that they had targeted another Saudi oil tanker off the port of Yanbu on the Red Sea as part of what they describe as a 'maritime blockade' against Saudi Arabia.

The UK Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO) reported receiving a notification of an incident approximately 95 nautical miles southeast of Aden, southern Yemen, with the master of an oil tanker reporting hearing a powerful explosion near the vessel.
