Houthis Claim Downed Saudi Drone Over NW Yemen
The Houthi group in Yemen claimed on Sunday to have shot down a Saudi reconnaissance drone over the northwestern province of Hajjah. The drone, identified as a ScanEagle, was reportedly brought down while flying over Hajjah, which borders Saudi Arabia.
According to a military source within the Houthi group, the forces used an 'appropriate weapon' to shoot down the drone, but did not provide further details. Saudi Arabia has not commented on the claim.
This incident comes after the Houthis said they had carried out two drone attacks targeting an airport and an oil facility in Saudi Arabia's southern region of Najran last week. The Houthi military spokesperson Yahya Saree claimed that both attacks 'achieved their objectives', but did not provide details on possible casualties or damage.
The Houthis have been intensifying missile and drone strikes on government-held areas in Yemen, as the conflict between the two sides continues to escalate.
