Houthis Claim Drone Attacks on Saudi Oil Transport Facilities

The Houthi group in Yemen has claimed responsibility for drone attacks on facilities involved in transporting crude oil from eastern Saudi Arabia to the Red Sea port of Yanbu.

In a statement posted on social media platform X, Houthi military spokesperson Yahya Sarea said the group had targeted 'a number of sensitive sites and facilities' using 'multiple drones.'

The move is in response to alleged Saudi drone incursions into Yemeni airspace, according to the Houthis.

Saudi Arabia's Defense Ministry said its air defenses had intercepted and destroyed drones launched from Iraq that attempted to target oil facilities in the kingdom's Eastern province and the capital, Riyadh.

The latest development comes amid a sharp escalation of military strikes between the Houthi group and the Saudi-led coalition. The Houthis have claimed attacks on Saudi-linked vessels and energy infrastructure, while the coalition has conducted airstrikes on Houthi-held sites in Yemen.
