Houthis Claim New Attacks on Saudi Arabia Amid Regional Tensions

The Iran-backed Houthis in Yemen have claimed new attacks on Saudi Arabia, escalating tensions in the region. The Houthi military spokesperson, Brig. Gen. Yahya Saree, said they targeted a military base in Sharurah province in Saudi Arabia's Najran region.

The Saudi civil defense reported that a projectile fell in al-Tawwal governorate near the border with Yemen along the Red Sea, injuring two people and damaging a mosque and several other buildings. The Houthis have been hitting Saudi oil infrastructure and shipping as part of a recently declared blockade.

The rebels' rapid advance has put the Iran-backed Houthi forces just 20 miles from the US military base in Djibouti, on the other side of the Bab el-Mandeb. Over 2,000 people have reached Djibouti, fleeing the conflict in Yemen.
