Houthis Claim Responsibility for Strikes on Riyadh
The Houthi rebels in Yemen have claimed responsibility for strikes on Saudi Arabia's capital, Riyadh, and an oil facility in Yanbu. The attacks were carried out using ballistic missiles and drones, according to a statement from the Houthis' military spokesperson, Yahya Saree.
Saree said that the operations, which he described as 'significant', resulted in massive fires breaking out at the targeted sites. He denied that civilians were targeted, blaming the damage on failed intercept attempts by Saudi defense forces.
The Houthis have been escalating their attacks on Saudi Arabia in recent weeks, seizing key islands and attacking oil infrastructure. The group claims it is responding to 'criminal Saudi aggression' and a years-long blockade of Houthi-held parts of Yemen.
