Houthis claim strikes on Saudi Aramco facilities in Riyadh and Khurais
The Houthi group in Yemen launched missile and drone attacks on Saudi oil giant Aramco's facilities in Riyadh and the Khurais area on Sunday. The strikes reportedly caused fires at the targeted sites. Houthi military spokesman Yahya Saree claimed the operations were successful, hitting their targets with precision.
In a video statement posted on the social media platform X, Saree stated that the attacks were in response to Saudi airstrikes and missile attacks on Yemeni provinces. He alleged that Saudi forces had carried out 50 strikes in the previous 12 hours and a total of 1,460 since the escalation began, though he did not specify the starting date for that figure.
Saree warned of further attacks on Saudi sites and oil facilities, vowing to continue operations until Saudi attacks stop and the blockade on Yemen is lifted. The announcement came after Yemeni Presidential Leadership Council Chairman Rashad al-Alimi declared comprehensive military operations against the Houthis to retake remaining territory under their control.
There was no immediate comment from Saudi authorities or Aramco regarding the Houthi claims.
