Houthis Fire Ballistic Missile at Riyadh in Escalating Conflict
Saudi Arabia's capital, Riyadh, was targeted by Yemen's Houthi rebels in a ballistic missile attack on Saturday. The attempted strike marked the first time the city has been attacked since the escalation of fighting between Saudi-led forces and the Tehran-backed Houthis.
The Saudi-led coalition reported that it successfully intercepted the missile before it reached its target, but some residents heard an explosion, and a plume of smoke was seen near the airport. There were no reports of casualties or damage.
In addition to targeting Riyadh, the Houthi rebels claimed they also attacked facilities belonging to Saudi oil giant Aramco in the Red Sea port city of Yanbu. However, this claim has not been independently verified.
