A wave of attacks by Houthi rebels in Yemen has left over 70 people wounded and sparked fires at several oil facilities and utilities in Saudi Arabia's southern region.

The attacks, which targeted civilian and economic facilities in the cities of Abha's Jazan, Najran, and Khamis Mushait, were condemned by the government, which vowed to take all necessary measures to defend its sovereignty.

Maj. Gen. Turki al-Malki, a spokesperson for the Saudi-led coalition fighting in Yemen, described the attacks as a 'serious escalation' and a 'flagrant violation of the kingdom's sovereignty, and a direct threat to the security and safety of its citizens and residents.'
