Houthis Launch Drone and Missile Strikes on Saudi Facilities Amid Escalating Fighting

Yemen's Iran-backed Houthi rebels have claimed responsibility for drone and missile strikes on Saudi military and oil facilities in the kingdom.

The attacks, which occurred amid escalating fighting near the Bab al-Mandab Strait, targeted Abha International Airport, King Khalid air base, and facilities belonging to state-owned oil giant Aramco in Abha and Jizan.

The Houthis accused Riyadh of carrying out strikes around the country on Monday, including a deadly bombardment of a prison that left 11 people dead and 20 inmates missing under the rubble.

The Saudi government has not commented on the Houthi claims, but the attacks have heightened tensions in the region as the Houthis press an offensive to seize territory near the Bab al-Mandab Strait.
