Houthis Launch Drone Strike on Aramco Facility in Saudi Arabia
The Iran-backed Houthi group has claimed responsibility for a drone attack on an Aramco facility in Saudi Arabia's southwestern region of Jazan. The refinery, which processes 400,000 barrels of oil per day, was hit with a fire that was later extinguished by authorities.
No casualties were reported from the incident, but it has raised fresh concerns about energy security in the region. This attack comes just two days after Saudi Arabia signed a defense pact with Turkey and Pakistan, which is intended to deter aggression and provide mutual support in case of an attack.
Aramco's CEO Amin Nasser had recently stated that recent attacks on the company's facilities had caused some disruptions to production but were not expected to have a significant operational or financial impact. However, this latest incident may indicate otherwise as energy supplies become increasingly volatile due to regional tensions.
