The Houthi rebels in Yemen have launched a major attack on Saudi Arabia's capital city Riyadh, targeting 'sensitive targets' and a facility belonging to oil giant Aramco. The attacks, which included ballistic missiles and drones, were aimed at disrupting the country's economic interests.

Saudi air defences intercepted one of the ballistic missiles, while another exploded near King Khalid International Airport, causing large plumes of smoke to rise. There were no immediate reports of casualties or major damage in Riyadh.

Houthi military spokesperson Yahya Sarea claimed that the attacks were successful and that large fires broke out at the targeted sites. He vowed to continue an 'escalation for escalation' strategy until Saudi airstrikes stop and restrictions on Yemen are lifted.
