Houthis Launch Military Operation Against Saudi Oil Targets

The Houthi rebel group has launched a wide-scale military operation deep inside Saudi territory, targeting several sites in southwestern Saudi Arabia. The attacks struck civilian and economic facilities in the cities of Abha, Jazan, Najran, and Khamis Mushait.

The Saudi Energy Ministry said the attacks caused fires at several sites, including King Khalid Air Base, Abha International Airport, and facilities belonging to Aramco. Operations at the oil facilities and utilities were temporarily suspended due to the attack.

According to the Houthi military spokesman Yahya Sarei, the strikes came in response to Riyadh's '121 airstrikes' in Yemen over the past three days. The Saudi-led coalition described the attacks as 'dangerous' and 'senseless', and vowed to 'resolutely confront (the Houthis) hostile approach.'

The World Health Organization reported that since August 24, 1,078 people have been killed or wounded in Yemen, while over 21,000 people have been displaced. The current battles are among the fiercest in Yemen in years, following a Thursday-wide ground offensive by the Houthis.
