The Iran-backed Houthi rebels in Yemen launched missile and drone attacks on Saudi Arabia's oil facilities, targeting sites operated by Aramco in Jizan and Yanbu. The rebels claimed to have hit their targets, sparking fires at a refinery in Jizan, according to a video circulating on social media.

The attack marked the escalation of a new front in the Middle East conflict, as fighting between regional allies of the US and Iran intensified. Saudi Arabia made no direct comment on the attack but warned citizens in Jizan and Yanbu to be prepared for strikes.

A surface-to-air battery operated by Greek personnel in Saudi Arabia downed two ballistic missiles and a drone launched from Yemen targeting Yanbu. The Houthis had accused US ally Saudi Arabia of a 'dangerous escalation' after Riyadh struck Houthi targets in Yemen on Friday.
