Houthis Strike 8th Saudi Oil Tanker Amid Escalating Maritime Campaign

The Houthi group in Yemen has claimed responsibility for striking a Saudi oil tanker in the Red Sea. According to their military spokesperson, Yahya Saree, several ballistic missiles hit the vessel accurately.

This attack is part of the group's 'blockade for blockade' strategy, aimed at disrupting Riyadh's oil exports. The Houthis have targeted eight Saudi tankers since imposing a maritime blockade on July 22, with 29 vessels forced to turn back or rerouted through the northern Red Sea.

Saree vowed that the group would continue and intensify attacks on Saudi tankers, blocking maritime access routes and preventing passage 'regardless of the consequences.' However, there has been no immediate comment from Saudi authorities on the Houthi claims.
