Houthis Strike Saudi Aramco Sites Amid Escalating Yemen Conflict
Yemen's Houthi rebels have claimed responsibility for attacks on Saudi Aramco facilities in Riyadh and Khurais, as conflict between the Houthis and Saudi-backed forces escalates. The strikes were reportedly carried out using ballistic missiles and drones, targeting key oil infrastructure in response to what the group calls Saudi aggression against Yemen.
In a statement released on Telegram, Houthi spokesperson Brigadier General Yahya Saree asserted that the attacks were a direct response to ongoing Saudi military operations in Yemen. He reported that Saudi forces conducted 50 air and missile strikes in the past 12 hours alone, bringing the total to 1,460 since the escalation began.
The Houthi spokesperson detailed two specific operations: one targeting Aramco in Riyadh and another in Khurais. Saree claimed both strikes were successful, causing significant fires at the targeted sites. He emphasized that the group would continue such operations until Saudi aggression against Yemen ends and the siege is lifted.
The claims come amid heightened tensions in Yemen, with the Houthis reporting further Saudi airstrikes across multiple Yemeni governorates. The group has vowed to maintain its strategy of retaliatory attacks against Saudi military and oil facilities.
