Houthis Strike Saudi Oil Installations as US Halt Air Strikes on Iran
The Houthis, an Iran-aligned militant group in Yemen, fired on Saudi oil installations at two ports on the Red Sea coast. The strikes caused damage to Saudi state oil giant Aramco's refinery in Jizan and its main Red Sea oil port, Yanbu.
Aramco did not respond to requests for comment, but a video shared on social media and verified by Reuters showed a large column of smoke rising from the direction of the Aramco refinery in Jizan. Two Asia-based trading sources confirmed that there was potential damage to fuel and oil storage sites at Jizan.
This development comes as tensions between Iran and Saudi Arabia escalate. The United States had been conducting air strikes on Iranian targets for 13 consecutive nights, but halted the attacks on Saturday, giving no explanation for the pause.
