Houthis target Aramco sites in Saudi Arabia amid Yemen conflict escalation
Yemen's Houthi rebels announced on Sunday that they had launched strikes against key facilities of Saudi Aramco in Riyadh and Khurais. The group claimed the attacks were retaliation for what they described as ongoing Saudi aggression against Yemen. In a statement posted on Telegram, Houthi spokesperson Brigadier General Yahya Saree said the operations involved ballistic missiles and drones, targeting Aramco sites in response to Saudi airstrikes across Yemen.
Saree reported that Saudi forces had conducted 50 air and missile strikes in the past 12 hours, bringing the total to 1,460 since the latest escalation began. He asserted that both Houthi attacks were successful, causing large fires at the targeted locations. The group vowed to continue its operations against Saudi military and oil facilities until the aggression against Yemen ceases and the siege is lifted.
The Houthi spokesperson stated that the group would not halt its strikes, maintaining a policy of 'siege for siege and escalation for escalation.' This announcement comes as fighting in Yemen intensifies, with the Houthis reporting further Saudi airstrikes across multiple Yemeni governorates and preparing additional attacks in response.
