Houthis Target Saudi Oil Tanker Under Maritime Blockade

The Houthi Movement in Yemen has targeted a Saudi oil tanker called NCC GHAZAL, claiming it was violating a maritime blockade on the Kingdom. The group's military spokesperson, Yahya Saree, said that the vessel ignored repeated warning calls and was forced to turn back after being hit by multiple ballistic missiles.

The Houthis have been enforcing a maritime blockade on Saudi Arabia since 2022, citing the principle of 'blockade for blockade and escalation for escalation.' This means that they will continue to restrict navigation in the area until their demands are met.

The attack on NCC GHAZAL comes after the group launched missiles at Saudi Arabia earlier this week, accusing it of attacking Sanaa International Airport and violating a four-year truce in the conflict between Riyadh and the Iran-aligned Ansarallah.
