Yemen's Iran-aligned Houthi rebels have claimed responsibility for missile attacks on Saudi oil tankers in the Red Sea and Gulf of Aden. According to Yahya Saree, the Houthis' military spokesperson, the attacks targeted a tanker off the coast of Yanbu, a major port city in Saudi Arabia. The Houthis have imposed a naval blockade on Saudi Arabia since last month, citing a Saudi siege on Yemen as retaliation.

The Houthi rebels have been at odds with the Saudi-led coalition that has been supporting the Yemeni government against the rebel group. The Houthis' naval blockade has disrupted oil shipments through the Red Sea, which is a critical waterway for global energy trade.
