The Houthi movement in Yemen has stated that Saudi military bases and energy infrastructure remain legitimate targets until attacks on Yemen cease and restrictions are lifted.

In a statement, Abdul-Malik al-Houthi said his forces consider cross-border strikes as long as Saudi military operations against Yemen persist. He pointed out that the group's focus has been on military and air bases, as well as the kingdom's oil sector, which is seen as a key source of financing for Saudi military operations.

The Houthi leader also emphasized that civilians would not be deliberately targeted in their operations, and that their efforts are directed at military installations and concentrations of Saudi-supported forces. He rejected accusations that the group had targeted Mecca, calling such claims a fabrication and stating that Yemenis remain committed to protecting Islamic holy sites.

The comments come as fighting in Yemen and attacks on Saudi interests intensify. The US has approved a proposed $24.3 billion sale of 48 F-35 stealth fighters to Saudi Arabia, subject to congressional approval.
