Hungary Sets October 2027 Target for Phasing Out Russian Gas Imports

Hungary is working to phase out its dependence on Russian natural gas imports by the end of 2027, according to Hungarian Minister of Economy and Energy István Kapitány.

Kapitány stated that Hungary's pipelines can receive gas from multiple directions, but importing from Russia has been the most economical option so far.

The minister did not provide specific details on how much Hungary's dependence on Russian gas has decreased in recent months. However, he noted that if 'everything goes as expected,' the country will secure its gas supply from other sources by October 2027.
