Idaho Gas Prices Inch Up Amid Ongoing Global Tensions
Gas prices in Idaho have increased by only seven cents over the past week, but remain high due to ongoing tensions in the Middle East. According to AAA Idaho public affairs director Matthew Conde, 'tensions are running high, and until conditions improve, there is little reason to think that the crude oil market will settle down.'
Conde noted that gas prices have risen 37 cents more than a month ago and $1.34 more than a year ago. The current state average in Idaho is around $4.70 per gallon, with Twin Falls nearing the $5 mark at $4.95 per gallon and Lewiston and Coeur d'Alene tying for the lowest price at $4.63 per gallon.
Diesel prices have also increased, sitting at $6.47 per gallon, up from $3.83 cents last year. Nationally, gas prices have climbed 16 cents more than last week to a current average of $4.47 per gallon.
Despite the recent drop in crude oil prices to $95 per barrel, it is too early to determine if this is part of a larger trend. Conde warned that Idaho's state average may approach the $5 mark before all is said and done.
