Indraprastha Gas Limited (IGL) has increased the price of compressed natural gas (CNG) in Delhi and NCR by Rs 3.89 per kg, effective August 29. The new retail price is Rs 86.98 per kg.

The hike was attributed to a sharp rise in international LNG prices due to the ongoing Middle East crisis, which has affected cargo movements through the Strait of Hormuz.

IGL stated that despite the increase, CNG consumers in Delhi remain insulated from volatility in imported spot LNG prices. However, with CNG consumption rising significantly in line with India's economic growth and consumer demand, a significant portion of gas used for the CNG segment is sourced from imported spot LNG.
