Ilijan Power Plant Resumes Gas Supply from Malampaya Field

The Ilijan power plant has resumed receiving natural gas from the Malampaya field after four years. The resumption of supply followed a rehabilitation project that began in June 2022, which included restoring the Ilijan natural gas receiving facility and the Tabangao-Ilijan Pipeline.

'Bringing Malampaya gas back to Ilijan is more than just a resumption of fuel supply, as this milestone is also about putting our existing energy infrastructure to work and making the most of the resources available to our country,' said Yari Miralao, president and CEO of LNGPH.

An interim natural gas supply arrangement was signed between Prime Energy and South Premiere Power Corp., operator of the Ilijan power plant, for the provision of natural gas from Malampaya over a six-month period starting September 1, 2026. The new agreement highlights the importance of utilizing existing energy infrastructure to meet evolving energy needs.
