India and China Hold Key to Resolving Trump's Iran Conundrum
Former US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton believes that India and China hold the key to helping President Donald Trump find a way out of the conflict with Iran. According to Clinton, both countries have significant economic ties with Tehran and are major buyers of Iranian oil and gas.
Citing their leverage over Iran, Clinton argued that Washington could use diplomacy instead of further military pressure to resolve the crisis. She pointed out that US strikes had successfully killed senior Iranian leaders but failed to produce the promised collapse of the regime.
Clinton also suggested using the threat of secondary sanctions as a way to persuade China and India to help mediate the conflict. She noted that the Trump administration's decision-making has been superficial, questioning whether President Trump understands the risk of Tehran closing the Strait of Hormuz.
