India Appliance Prices Set to Rise Up to 8% from October 1
Appliance prices are set to rise from October 1 due to increased raw material costs. Copper, in particular, has become significantly more expensive, jumping from $8,000-$9,000 per metric tonne last year to $14,500 now.
AC prices will see the sharpest increase, rising by around 5-8%, while some manufacturers are also raising prices of TVs, refrigerators, and washing machines by around 2-4%.
Haier India President NS Satish told PTI that copper is a major cost for AC manufacturers, as an air-conditioner typically requires 3-4 kg of the metal.
Daikin has already raised prices by 8-10% from September 16. Haier plans to increase room air-conditioner prices by around 5% from October 1 and also indicated a 2-3% increase for products such as LED TVs and washing machines.
