India Appliance Prices to Rise Again on Copper Cost Spike
Appliance manufacturers in India are gearing up for another round of price revisions from October 1, 2026, affecting consumer electronics and home appliances. The latest increase will see prices rise by around 5% to 8% for air conditioners, while some manufacturers plan to raise prices of washing machines, refrigerators, and LED TVs by 3% to 4%. This marks the third industry-wide price hike of 2026.
The rising costs of key inputs such as copper, aluminum, steel, and crude-oil derivatives are driving these price revisions. Haier India President NS Satish explained that copper prices have surged from around $8,000-$9,000 per metric tonne last year to approximately $14,500, which significantly affects air-conditioner production.
Air conditioners are expected to see the most visible impact of these cost pressures. Daikin India has already implemented an 8%-10% price increase for its ACs from September 16, while Blue Star has raised prices by 5%-8%. Other manufacturers like LG and Bosch Home Comfort have also increased their AC prices by around 5%.
The impact of these price revisions will be felt across various appliance categories. While some manufacturers are raising prices for LED TVs, washing machines, and refrigerators by 3%-4%, others may see even higher increases. Super Plastronics plans to increase television prices by around 7% after October, while Panasonic is still assessing market conditions.
The actual effect of the price revisions will depend on various factors such as brand, model, retailer inventory, and timing. Manufacturers have already stocked products purchased at earlier prices ahead of the festive season, which means some consumers may continue finding appliances at older prices during the early part of the festive season.
