India Clarifies Revised Pricing Framework for Compressed Biogas Under GOBARdhan
The Indian Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas has clarified its revised pricing framework for Compressed Biogas (CBG) under the GOBARdhan Scheme.
The scheme aims to provide a stable and viable price to CBG producers while ensuring that consumers do not face any material increase in CNG and household PNG prices.
The Ministry explained that the existing system pays CBG producers approximately 1,478 rupees per Million British thermal units, but under the revised framework, this will increase to 2,110 rupees.
However, the Government will provide affordability support of 10 rupees per kilogram of CBG, which is equivalent to around 215 rupees per Million British thermal units with 95% methane content.
This reduces the effective cost to approximately 1,895 rupees per Million British thermal units.
