India Condemns Houthi Attacks on Saudi Oil Installations as Regional Tensions Rise
India has condemned the recent attacks on Saudi oil installations by Houthi militants. The strikes, which targeted civilian and economic facilities, have been deemed 'unacceptable' by India's External Affairs Ministry spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal.
The Iran-backed Houthi militant group launched the attacks on Tuesday (September 8, 2026) from Yemen, where they have been majorly operating. The strikes came amid the US ramping up its economic sanctions against Iran.
India's condemnation of the attacks highlights the country's concerns about regional security and stability. Mr. Jaiswal stated that such attacks undermine regional security and threaten freedom of navigation in the Bab-el-Mandeb.
