India Diversifies Energy Sources Amid Geopolitical Tensions
The Indian government has taken steps to strengthen its energy security by expanding its liquefied natural gas (LNG) sourcing network from six countries to 15. This move is aimed at reducing supply risks due to geopolitical tensions and maritime transit challenges.
The Centre has also widened its crude oil sourcing network from 27 countries to 41, as announced earlier following disruptions to energy shipments through West Asia.
Minister of State for Petroleum and Natural Gas Suresh Gopi said that this diversification has reduced dependence on any particular country, region or transit route and enhanced India's ability to manage supply disruptions and market volatility.
