India Hikes Wheat MSP by ₹25 to ₹2,610 per Quintal for 2027-28

The Union Cabinet has approved a hike in the minimum support price (MSP) for wheat by ₹25 per quintal, taking it to ₹2,610 per quintal for the 2027-28 rabi marketing year.

This decision was made at a meeting chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on September 30, 2026. The MSP for wheat in the previous marketing year (April-March) was fixed at ₹2,585 per quintal.

The Agriculture Ministry's proposal to increase MSP for various rabi crops was also cleared during this meeting. The production cost of wheat is estimated to be ₹1,264 per quintal, but the MSP has been kept more than double at ₹2,610 per quintal for 2027-28.
