India Increases MSP for Rabi Crops, Safflower Sees Largest Hike
The Indian government has approved higher Minimum Support Prices (MSP) for six mandated rabi crops, effective from the 2027-28 marketing season. The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs, chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, made this decision.
Among the crops, safflower received the highest hike with an increase of Rs 675 per quintal, followed by rapeseed and mustard at Rs 413, and lentil (masur) at Rs 390. Barley saw a rise of Rs 136 per quintal, while gram increased by Rs 83.
Wheat received the smallest hike with an increase of just Rs 25 per quintal. The revised MSP for wheat will be Rs 2,610 per quintal, while barley will reach Rs 2,286 and gram will hit Rs 5,958.
